Job Details

This role offers the potential for you to expand your professional interests whilst helping grow our services. We are passionate about supporting our vets’ interests and as such, are able to offer work within our small animal or large animal teams, an equine bias or a truly mixed role. You would be part of a varied team of vets, RVNs, ANAs and receptionists that are committed to providing compassionate and professional patient care. Our vets are a team of experienced small and large animal vets and some spritely new and recent grads, all with a variety of experiences, interests and backgrounds, including a certificate holder, Mastitis Control Plan deliverer and an AHDB Mobility Mentor. Our nursing team comprises a certificate holder, dental and behavioural interests and a farm vet tech and we are an RVN training practice.

Our full time role is a 40 hour week and we are able to offer part-time roles and flexible working patterns and days that are right for our team. We provide a positive and sustainable working environment and are keen to support interests and responsibilities outside of work. We have no evening surgeries and opening hours are 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. You will have an equal share in out of hours service (no more frequent than a 1 in 4 rota), either a small animal, large animal or mixed contribution, which is fully supported by our RVNs. There is an allocation within your salary for on-call and two days off following a weekend of on-call duties.

Steffan Veterinary Services have an exciting opportunity for a new full time or 2 new part-time vets in our 10 vet mixed practice in beautiful West Wales. Our experienced equine vet retiring and our focus on improving and enhancing staff/client experiences along with our commitment to patient care and standards has led to a flexible opening for the right person, or persons. We have a supportive, caring and adaptable culture, provide great clinical support and actively promote and encourage a healthy life balance.

Our small animal hospital is undergoing an exciting re-vamp so that we are better able to provide first-rate patient care and an improved environment for our staff. There is free use of the practice flat, located directly above the hospital, for when needs arise. Our large animal approach is driven by our pride in providing a proactive perspective on welfare, flock/herd health and all things farm, as well as offering and supporting clients with the more traditional services. We run frequent farmer meetings and workshops and boast steady involvement in a variety of on-farm research projects.

We are looking for a professional and considerate practitioner with experience in clinical practice who can make, follow-through and reflect on their own decisions and get involved in our good-humoured practice discussions. We like people who lead by example and take time to care, for themselves and others.

Company

Steffan Vets is a seven-vet mixed practice based in Lampeter. The practice deals with all species of animals and covers the West Wales countryside, within approximately 18 miles of Lampeter.

We have two surgeries; the main surgery in Lampeter and a branch surgery in Tregaron. Both surgeries have ample parking for use when attending. The car park in Lampeter is to the rear of the Office, off St Thomas Street.

The practice has a long history since it was set up in Llanybydder prior to the 1950's by Daf Davies.

Mr Lyn Thomas first started treating animals in Lampeter next to the old primary school in 1956. Since this time the practice has had many bases within the town until it moved to it's current location on the High Street in the 1970's. In 2014 we expanded into the neighbouring shop (Number 4).

The surgery in Llanybydder was closed in January 2007. The surgery in Tregaron opened in 2003.
