Job Details

Bishops Vets in Hatfield, Herts are looking for an enthusiastic and confident Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in surgery to join our friendly and welcoming team.

You will get the opportunity to operate every day as well as consult and we are looking for a candidate with a surgical bias to complement the rest of our veterinary team. We are a small practice, which allows for good case continuity and the opportunity to develop productive relationships with clients.

This is a full time position and our rota provides a good work life balance with an average 41 hour week (consisting of 4 weekdays 9am-7pm with 1 day off each week), 1 in 3 Saturday mornings and no on call. There will be occasional sole charge.

We are a busy and well-respected single site practice with a good local reputation - a lot of new clients find us by word of mouth. Our small and friendly team of part and full time staff is comprised of 3 vets, 3 RVNs and 2 SVNs as well as 4 reception/administrative staff. We are a Training Practice and are really invested in the development of our own SVNs as well as vet students on EMS as this is so important for the future of the profession.

We are proud to be a silver accredited ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic.

We are a well-equipped practice with recently upgraded digital x-ray facilities (including dental), ultrasound, Idexx blood machines and separate dog and cat wards. We are lucky to have a nice spacious building close to local amenities.

We are located in Hatfield, Hertfordshire which has swift mainline train links to London and is conveniently placed for both the A1(M) and the M25. There is onsite parking and close local amenities such as restaurants + an ALDI supermarket.

A number of our staff have outside interests in various animal charities and volunteer or raise funds for them, such as Street Vet, the RSPCA, Cats Protection and London Colney Hedgehog Rescue. We also participate in the C4 neutering scheme for cats. Our ethos is to provide tailored clinical care to our patients while also encompassing empathetic and personalised care to our clients in a friendly and fun working environment.

This role would suit an RCVS registered vet with a surgical bias who is confident with routine surgical and dental procedures as well as non-routine soft tissue surgery. We want you to be a motivated team player who shares our values of providing good quality care to our clients and patients, with the ability to offer flexible treatment options as needed. We would be happy to support a surgical certificate for the right candidate.

Benefits (subject to pro rata):
