The practice:
Blue Cross hospital Grimsby provides veterinary treatment for pets of clients whose financial circumstances do not allow them to afford private veterinary fees. The range of work carried out is the same to that in private practice, we pride ourselves on offering an excellent, round the clock level of care to our patients and their owners. Our facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors, infusion pumps, bear huggers, large inpatients facilities with separate cat, dog, small animal and isolation wards.
The role:
As the Senior Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will work closely with the Hospital Lead to ensure that clinically, the hospital is operating efficiently and in a sustainable way and that standards and processes are consistent with other Blue Cross hospitals. It will be your responsibility to ensure that veterinary services, including an out of hours provision are delivered at the hospital which you will do by working closely with the Hospital Lead and Head of Hospital Operations.
In this role you will undertake routine clinical and surgical work as well as lead a team of veterinary surgeons which will see you provide advice, guidance and mentor any graduate positions. Continuous learning and development is important to Blue Cross and you will role model this by driving a culture of ongoing training which ensures RCVS criteria is in place and all clinical team members have development plans.
As a senior member of the clinical team you will also promote the work of Blue Cross amongst the veterinary profession and general public, which could networking, local press interviews and taking direction from the internal media team.

Successful candidate:
What is required?
• Veterinary Degree and Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
• Significant experience in small or mixed animal practice
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience in line management and leading teams through progressive change and continuous improvement
It would also be great if you had:
• Previous experience in managing Veterinary surgeons and nurses

Our animal hospital in Grimsby is in a fantastic location, 15 minutes from the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds and beaches with low cost standard of living including housing. The area has excellent schools and good transport links, with Humberside airport being only 20 minutes away.
Salary:
£43,450 to £66,550 plus £2,500 Recruitment Allowance per annum
