Job Details

This opportunity would suit a dedicated and enthusiastic RVN who enjoys providing high standards of patient care.

The Practice

Eye Vet is a dedicated ophthalmology practice, established ten years ago, with multi-disciplinary support from nearby Northwest Veterinary Specialists and the Liverpool University Small Animal Teaching Hospital.

As well as referral work from the surrounding primary care Veterinary practices, we provide clinical teaching and placements for final year students from the University each week and provide Ophthalmology support for Chester Zoo.

We are a short distance from Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and North Wales.

The Role

Previous experience of ophthalmology is not required as full training will be provided. The role is suited towards a motivated RVN with a high standard of care.

We are looking for qualified and experienced nurses to join our team of 11 nurses. We would consider permanent, fixed term, full time and part time. Shifts are rotated on a rolling rota between the hours of 8.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. Out of hours provision around these hours is based on a shared rota and is off site unless called in for emergencies (Ophthalmologist takes on-call phone). No overnight shifts apply.

Company

Eye-vet is a dedicated ophthalmology practice, and has back-up from other disciplines provided by clinical staff at the University of Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Leahurst. Eye-vet has been providing ophthalmology services for the University Teaching Hospital since August 2009, and has regularly welcomed clinical year students for Extra Mural Study placements and qualified veterinarians who want to further their knowledge of ophthalmology.

Over the past three decades much has been learned and the technology for assessing animal eyes is much the same as in the human medical field. Our veterinary surgeons and ophthalmologists regularly attend conferences and courses in the UK, Europe and USA to keep abreast of recent developments.

We work with general practice veterinarians to diagnose and treat animal eye problems such as cherry eye, dry eye, glaucoma, ulcers and cataracts.
