Vacancy- Experienced Veterinary Surgeon

Overview

Riverside Veterinary Care are looking for a genuine GP Veterinary Surgeon to help us grow our practice.

We are a proudly independent surgery with a strong ethic of looking after our team and supporting each other to provide a caring and personal service.

Our flexible and forward thinking approach has enabled us to thrive last year. None of our staff were furloughed and our client base is bigger than ever.

We have exciting times ahead as we extend our opening hours and continue our refurbishment.

Are you a great all-rounder looking for a new challenge? Do you want to get involved in improving services and developing the practice, as well as providing a complete veterinary service to our friendly clients? Future shareholder/ownership prospects available for the right person.

If you have attributes such as a genuine team spirit, excellent communication skills and a commitment to do what is best for the animal, we would love to meet you. Ideally you will already be competent in medicine and surgery and able to cope with a busy workload and some sole charge.

We can offer a satisfying role within a progressive, team driven workplace. Very little on-call. We live in a beautiful rural area within easy reach of Cardiff, Hereford and Bristol. We have loads of ideas to grow the practice but we can't do it without more vet power.

Full time or part time considered, but must be able to do some weekend and evening shifts.

Emergencies are dealt with by Vets Now after 10.30pm during the week and after 6pm at weekends.

Rather than being 'on-call', vets do one shift a week from 1pm until 10.30pm, running an evening surgery and fielding any emergencies.

Nurses do the majority of our in-patient care with vet back-up when needed.

All vets consult and operate on most days.

Clinical Features

Two fully equipped sites, one in the lovely market town of Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, the other 10 miles away in the Welsh Valley Town of Ebbw Vale.

Both sites have ultrasound, digital Xray, Idexx Lasercyte and Catalyst Biochemistry, lab facilities.

We use SmartFlow paperless systems for in-patient and anaesthetic monitoring

All anaesthetic machines are Humphrey ADE circuits with oxygen generation on-site.

Team Features

Currently 4 full time vets and 1 part-time locum.

We have 4 RVNs, 3 SVNs, 2 ANAs and 6 admin/reception staff.

We are a VN Training Centre, and an RCVS Tier 2 Accredited General Practice.

We hold monthly meetings (currently via Zoom)

We utilise a profiling system called Contributions Compass, to help us to understand each other's strengths, communication styles and skills. This helps us to work as a team and get the most out of the staff whilst maximising their job satisfaction.

We are members of the Vet Dynamics Mastermind group- a business mentorship group which provides guidance and support as we develop the practice.

We have over 600 clients registered on our Paw Club- a monthly direct debit scheme covering preventative healthcare and giving discounts.

Package

Salary commensurate with experience, with total package in the range £38,000- £50,000.

Higher salaries would be considered for Certificate holders or additional skills
