My client is looking for a senior veterinary surgeon to join their busy, friendly practice in South Yorkshire.

As a key member of a surgery’s management team, this role is responsible for driving excellence in customer service and clinical care whilst promoting pet wellbeing, delivering preventive services and treating sick and injured pets. As the surgery’s senior clinician, this role is responsible for all aspects of clinical governance.

As a senior vet there are many duties and responsibilities.

Such as Recruitment and induction of new Veterinary Surgeons and managing all veterinary surgeons including locums. Making sure their time and expertise are used effectively, tracking their client interaction making sure this is consistently excellent and finally making sure all clinical records are up to date.

Other duties this role entails is ensuring all new graduates are progressing correctly and being supported by all mentors. Agreeing all CPD allowance and monitoring effectiveness. The senior vet would oversee work rotas, holiday requests, and absence recording.

The shift patterns are between 8:30 – 7pm however the hours of work will be undertaken to reflect the needs of the business.  This means that the Senior Vet must demonstrate flexibility and the willingness to provide cover for absences and weekends, if required.

Time will be available each week to complete essential administrative tasks, although this must flexible so as not to adversely impact the effectiveness of the surgery, patient care nor customer satisfaction.

This role will require you to be active for long periods of time.

The Senior Veterinary Surgeon must always adhere to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Code of Professional Conduct; and ensure that their direct reports do the same.

The role is based in a fast-paced environment and the Senior Vet must lead by example. 

The Senior Vet must demonstrate flexibility and the willingness to provide cover for absences and weekends, if required.

This role requires strong communication, organisational and people management skills.  The post holder must demonstrate empathy, kindness, and compassion, whilst also being calm and confident under pressure.

Day to day roles at the practice would be conducting consultations, investigations, and surgical procedures. Managing of day to day running of the surgery is the most important thing, such as managing daily surgeries, weekly and daily takings, Also Maintaining timely, accurate and up to date clinical notes for each patient; and ensuring that direct reports do the same.
