Gateshead – Vet Surgeon

Up to £60,000 DOE plus benefits

A work life less ordinary with Vets Now

Vets Now Gateshead has a great opportunity to take on an additional Vet Surgeon on a full time, permanent basis who feels confident that they will be able to thrive in one of Vets Now’s top 5 busiest clinics across the UK.

Be part of a phenomenal team

Gateshead handles a mixture of private and PDSA clients alike which ensures there’s never a dull moment, however quality is never compromised despite the hectic schedule. The management team pride themselves on both the autonomy they give their experienced members of staff to be proactive in identifying the best outcome for animal and client alike, as well as the support they can provide for the members of staff who have areas they wish to develop.

Delivering clinical excellence

Our ethos is simple – to give people and their pets the care and support they deserve, at the time they need it most and our Vet Surgeons are vital to delivering this ethos. Your work/life balance will take priority at Vets Now, working a maximum of 3 days in a row alongside a typical 1-in-2 weekend rota pattern. Shifts may include:

Nights:     18:00 - 09:00

Saturdays: 12:00 - 22:00

Sundays:    09:00 - 18:00

Backshifts: 12:00 - 22:00

Fair share of Bank Holidays

Get off on the right foot

We can also offer a place on AdvantEdge, our two-week programme for experienced Vets. AdvantEdge is aimed at Vets with at least two years UK small animal or mixed practice experience, and who want to top-up their emergency medical and surgical knowledge whilst learning new techniques. The lectures on AdvantEdge are delivered virtually by diplomats in ECC, Internal Medicine and Surgery as well as experienced ECC clinicians. The programme also features mentored shifts in clinic – an ideal opportunity to work alongside an experienced emergency clinician and put into practice everything you’ve picked up on the programme.

Great place to work

Recognising hard work is really important to us. Our employees are our greatest asset which is why we offer a first class benefits and rewards package that could include:

  • 7 weeks pro rata annual leave

Company

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
