Global Animal Welfare Advisor (parental leave cover)
Department  Programmes Directorate- Global Animal Welfare
Job Type  Contract
Salary  £42,217 per annum pro-rata
Location  Central London, Leadenhall Street

Main Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Brooke family on a fixed-term basis (parental leave cover) as a Global Animal Welfare Advisor. You are the voice of the animal.

In this advisory position you will be supporting and empowering staff to consider animal welfare, comply with policies, use guidance and manage animal welfare risks within their work. By providing  animal welfare subject-matter expertise and creating learning content and opportunities to build capacity in animal behaviour, welfare and associated topics, the successful applicant will greatly contribute to developing our global workforce and high quality animal welfare programming.

You will identify opportunities for working equine animals to have better lives and take part in identifying and resolving root-causes to unacceptable and preventable welfare issues. This role will champion Brooke’s Compassionate Handling Guiding Principles and manage our Compassionate Handling for Life global project documentation, activities and communications. With an exciting new Global Strategy on the horizon, this role will truly help working equine animals be cared for, managed and used with respect to their welfare. Come join us!

Skills and Experience required
We are looking for an individual who has a true commitment to animal welfare and the vision and mission of Brooke. Excellent technical understanding must sit alongside excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, facilitating, mentoring and communicating with tact, diplomacy, sensitivity and patience.

You will need experience working with equine animals and demonstrate an understanding of animal behaviour, learning theory and humane handling principles. You will possess project management skills and have experience in implementing project plans. You must feel comfortable to comply with policies and procedures and also support others to do so.

Experience in developing adult and student-centred learning material is essential. We need an individual who has the confidence to challenge respectfully and feels highly motivated by enabling others to learn, develop and apply their skill-sets to help animals have a life worth living.
