Experienced Small Animal Vet for Lead Role at Independent Practice in Surrey

This fantastic independent client in Surrey are looking for a Lead vet to join their team at one of their 7 branch practices, with the main site just 5 miles away in Staines.

This group of practices are proud of their independence; they can invest in the practices according to clients needs and can immediately develop services and facilities in response to local issues, client feedback and advances in veterinary medicine. In addition having a number of local branches means the team can bring their expertise into communities knowing that their Staines site is not far away should a pet need hospitalisation, advanced surgery or more extensive diagnostics.

The role is for a lead vet to manage the day to day running of one of the local branches on a full time basis. You will be working alongside 2 other full time experienced vets and a team of supportive nurses.
Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years experience in first opinion practice. You will be a well organised individual who is happy to develop the branch and support the team on a daily basis, aswell as looking for ways to develop yourself and the team.

The branch practice is a Tier 2 Accredited RCVS practice & Nurse Training practice which sees a varied caseload and a range of surgical procedures. They have an in-house X-ray machine and ultrasound with access to full hospitalisation facilities at Staines. They carry out Advanced Surgical and Medical work-ups at the Staines Hospital  including cardiology, key hole surgery and orthopaedics and have Certificate Holders and Advance Practitioners based here.
The nursing assistants drive between the sites to allow bloods and lab work to be carried out daily.

This is a full time role based over a 4 day week, working 8.30am-7pm, with 1 vet working until 9.30pm every evening. This late shift currently falls every 1 in 9 nights (moving to 1 in 11 nights from 2022). And weekends currently on 1:9 (Sat 9-5pm and Sun 9-4pm), again moving to 1:11 weekends from 2022.
Vets Now work from the Staines site and take branch inpatients over night if necessary. You will get the opportunity to work from the main Hospital site every other week (7.30am-6pm) and can request to follow your own cases to the hospital if staffing allows.

The location of the practice allows easy access to the Capital, just 40 mins by direct train, whilst enabling you to live and work in the affordable leafy suburbs of Surrey.
