We have a fantastic opportunity for a Vet wanting to try their hand at taking on a Head Vet position and lead our vet team here at the Highcroft Hospital covering maternity leave.

  

As a Head Vet you will provide a friendly, efficient and professional service to our clients and their animals.  You will need to be able to work well within our team, sometimes under high pressure, and show good leadership skills

Ideally this role is a night and/or day full-time position and we can be flexible to discuss the shifts and how we could work this maternity contract for you.

Main duties would include:

  • Vet 1-1's and meetings
  • Assist Practice Directors with client letters and complaint process
  • Direct and guide the clinical team - veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, trainee nurses, animal nursing assistants and any other employee interacting with patient care.
  • Ensure that all staff are working to an appropriate clinical standard and that all treatments are in line with modern treatment methods and techniques.
  • Ensure that all clinical work by all vets is billed accurately on the practice management system.
  • Ensure all health and safety rules are complied with by clinical staff.
  • Mentor more junior vets, including new graduates.
  • Enhance and develop the reputation of the practice at all times.
  • Responsible for the delivery of a high level of clinical care to all clients of the practice. All treatments provided are to be given with the client's informed consent and in accordance with the RCVS Code of professional conduct.
  • Be familiar with, and work within, the legislation affecting the practice of veterinary medicine within the UK and with the ethics of practice, as outlined in the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Surgeons.
  • A Veterinary Surgeon is a responsible position and should direct and guide Veterinary Nurses, Trainee Veterinary Nurses, Patient Care Assistants and all other employee interacting with pet care.
  • Provide appropriate surgical and medical care to patients, adhering to the RCVS five principles of practice.
