Job Details

Due to expansion Severn Veterinary Centre Warwickshire is looking for a part time or full time small animal vet to work in our Alcester and Henley practices. No OOH and Saturdays (9-5pm) are equally shared, currently 1 in 3.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with the ability to provide excellent clinical care to our patients and the ability to work up cases to a high standard. They must be happy to work both independently and as part of a team.

Our RCVS accredited practices are equipped with a full range of diagnostic equipment. All branches have ultrasound, haematology & biochemistry blood machines and digital x-ray allowing thorough work ups. Dental x-ray, ECG, tonometry and slit lamp are also available.

We are a forward thinking, progressive practice. Our Henley branch is due to expand this year. You’ll be supported by 2 AVPs (Cert SAO & Cert SAS) and we have vets currently studying towards certificates in medicine, cardiology and imaging which makes for an excellent team with diverse interests. Not forgetting the friendly team of excellent RVNs in every branch.

Our main branch in Worcester has an established orthopaedic referral service as well as CT scanner, laparoscopic surgery and hydrotherapy unit.

We also have a visiting ophthalmologist and dermatologist.

Applications are welcome from both confident recently graduated vets looking for a supportive practice with clinical freedom through to more senior vets looking for increased responsibilities such as taking responsibility of a branch or being involved in the management of Severn Vets. Candidates will need to be competent in routine consultations and surgery. Any specialist interests will be welcomed and supported.

RCVS and VDS fees paid. 5 days paid CPD and support for certificate studies. Healthshield cover and pension provided.

We aim to provide a high quality caring and professional service, with friendly staff, in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Both sites are fully equipped with modern surgical, anaesthetic, radiography, laboratory and hospitalisation facilities to deal with all aspects of modern veterinary practice. We are accredited under Tier 2 of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme. This is a voluntary scheme aimed at practices wishing to attain very high standards.

The highest standards

Severn Veterinary Centre aspires to work to the highest standards of veterinary care. This is achieved by investing in both the staff we employ and the facilities we offer.

We have a policy of employing qualified veterinary nurses and we are also a veterinary nurse training centre. Our vets have extensive knowledge and experience. All the veterinary surgeons have their own areas of expertise, giving us an extremely wide scope of veterinary medical and surgical knowledge.

Our sites are regularly inspected by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to ensure we meet or exceed all the standards laid down by our governing body. In line with these standards we actively promote professional development of all our staff to ensure we continue to offer the most up-to-date clinical advice and treatment options for your pet. An important part of our training program is regular staff meetings during which we can discuss client feedback and audit our clinical outcomes and successes.

Our facilities are modern and comprehensive, with advanced equipment including digital radiographic x-ray equipment, ultrasound, air powered equipment for surgery and dentistry, diathermy and fully equipped laboratories.

The conjunction of excellent staff training and our investment in modern equipment allows us to offer our patients the care they need in house. This means that in most cases, pets can be treated quickly and effectively at Severn Veterinary Centre. All our sites can perform procedures and operations such as neutering, dentals, x-rays, lump removals, wound care, blood tests, blood transfusions, ultrasonography, radiography and hospitalisation. More specialist treatments such as fracture repairs, spinal surgery and joint surgery are carried out at our Berkeley House practice, while Ophthalmology and Acupuncture are carried out at the Tybridge House practice.

However, in those rare instances where your pet requires care beyond the facilities of Severn Veterinary Centre, we will endeavour to promptly arrange on your behalf a referral to a specialist offering the expertise and facilities your pet needs.
