Anaesthesia Internship - Livingston, West Lothian

Veterinary Specialists Scotland (VSS) would like to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic anaesthesia intern for a 12 months period commencing in September 2021.

The Practice

VSS is a new state-of-the-art small animal referral clinic, with some of the most modern facilities that a small animal multidisciplinary referral clinic can offer including modern anaesthesia equipment, including a dedicated ultrasound machine to perform peripheral nerve blocks, CT, fluoroscopy, laser and minimally invasive surgery. The business currently employs 10 specialists/board eligible in the discipline of feline and canine internal medicine, surgery, neurology, anaesthesia and imaging. We also have five rotating interns and a team of lovely and skilled nurses, receptionists and VCAs.

Location

Veterinary Specialists Scotland is located in Livingston close to Edinburgh, but also has easy access to Glasgow. Edinburgh is a beautiful and vibrant city, famous for its festival and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the city has many entertainments to offer, for those who prefer the great outdoors, mountains, countryside and coastline are all within easy reach.

The Role

Successful Candidate

Anaesthesia intern for a 12 months period commencing in September 2021.
The successful candidate will work under supervision of 2 ECVAA Diplomates and one residency trained anaesthetist in our multidisciplinary hospital. The intern will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of anaesthesia, analgesia, and intensive care and will be also expected to participate in a 1 in 4 on call rota. This is a position which is suitable for a candidate with at least one or two-year experience in general practice, who is either considering enrolling in an anaesthesia residency program or who has a special interest in anaesthesia and wants to gain more experience.
