Experienced Veterinary Surgeon - Kilmarnock, Ayrshire

We are delighted that Laura our Kilmarnock small animal Clinical Director will be leaving us temporarily to have a baby in the Autumn. This has provided an excellent opportunity for a Lead Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at our main surgery in Kilmarnock.

This would initially be a fixed term contract to cover Laura’s maternity leave but for the right candidate the role could become permanent. This is a full time position working 4.5 days per week plus 1-in-2 Saturdays 8.30am to 1pm. There are no OOH as we are a host practice to Vets Now at Kilmarnock and therefore our patients enjoy round the clock care from this premises.

We are ideally looking for an experienced clinician with leadership experience or an experienced vet who now feels they may like to move into a position with more leadership responsibility. The case load is a good mix of both medical and surgical work and there is outstanding nursing support.

MBM Veterinary Group is a large, friendly, long established mixed practice, close to the beautiful Ayrshire coast and with convenient road and rail links to Glasgow (30 mins drive) and central Scotland. There are surgeries in Kilmarnock, Mauchline and Beith and dedicated small animal, equine and farm vets. Our small animal team at Kilmarnock consists of 11 Full and Part time vets including Certificate holders in Ophthalmology, Cardiology and Dermatology, 12 Nurses and 4 ANA's. There is a Practice Manager and Clinical Directors to work with and support you to deliver first class veterinary care.

The practice as a whole is committed to excellence in both client and patient care. Our busy well-equipped first opinion practice has an excellent local reputation and offers a very high standard of medical and surgical first opinion care, with digital x-ray, brand new ultrasound machine and in-house lab, and support from certificate holders and experienced vets and nurses. Clinical interests are encouraged, with generous funding for annual CPD, RCVS, VDS, BVA and one other professional membership, with additional non-clinical benefits package.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in a Senior Vet position with strong clinical standards, passion and drive with the ability to motivate and encourage others. You should be enthusiastic, clinically sound and compassionate with a keen interest in developing the team in all aspects of care. Good people and communication skills and a friendly open manner would be an asset.
