Job Details

We are looking for a full-time Surgical Referral Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. Applications welcomed from nurses seeking permanent or contract roles.

This is primarily a surgical nursing role but will include in-patient care, monitoring anaesthetics and imaging. You will provide exceptional nursing care to patients in all areas of the hospital and deliver nursing care that constantly aims to improve patient safety and outcomes. You will communicate a positive image of the hospital and its services and be friendly, helpful, and approachable to all members of staff and clients.

Rolling rota (currently 1 in 11) which includes nights and weekends, with time off during the week and additional payments to compensate. Day shifts are Monday to Friday; 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, 10am-6pm, 11am-7pm and 12pm-8pm. Night shift is a 7 day week of 12 hour night shifts 7.30pm-7.30am.

Our specialist surgical teams are up to date with the latest surgical techniques, and routinely carry out highly complex surgeries, enabling us to confidently take on the most challenging cases. Everything we do is backed up by a unique Surgical Complications Guarantee that covers any complications arising from surgery within 6 months of the procedure.

We provide clinical services around the clock, 365 days of the year, so flexibility in working hours is essential. Our surgical team currently consists of 1 Specialist Surgeon, 2 Surgeons, 3 Surgical Interns, 11 RVNs and 3 ACAs.

Our nursing team offers exceptionally high standards of clinical care to our patients whilst communicating effectively with all other members of the hospital team and the pet owner. We are looking for people who share this ethos. You will be a confident RVN with great communication, organisational skills and a passion for development. Along with existing experience, in-house training and external CPD will provide you with the knowledge and skills to carry out these duties.
