The role:

We have an exciting position for a veterinary surgeon at our Faygate hospital.

Medivet Faygate (Seers Croft Veterinary Surgery) is an exceptionally well-equipped hospital in a leafy location, very close to Gatwick airport and with good transport links to London.

There is a good balance of clinical expertise within the team, with vets holding, or studying for certificates in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, cardiology and exotics. The large hospital boasts great facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, CT scanner, laser, endoscopy, ultrasound, laparoscopy and separate dog, cat and exotic wards. There is a good surgical case load including orthopaedics- fracture repairs and TPLO’s.

The vet team is led by our lead veterinary surgeon with assistance from our senior veterinary surgeon and supported by a large and experienced team of receptionists, registered veterinary nurses, student veterinary nurses and a practice manager.

The suitable candidate will be a driven, dynamic, ambitious individual with exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a busy hospital environment. We are looking for someone with at least 4 years of UK (or UK equivalent) small animal experience who practices to a very high standard using an evidence-based approach. The successful candidate will be confident in all aspects of routine surgery, first opinion consulting and the management of hospital cases, including emergency work. A special interest and or further study in imaging- ultrasound and CT would be advantageous, but any area of special interest would be considered and supported. Clinical development will be encouraged, with such a diverse team and varied caseload the goal is to encourage areas of interest and to allow development of areas of clinical expertise, upskill our vets in these areas and to ultimately be able to offer a great service to our clients and patients.

The varied caseload ranges from routine first option and exotic work (with a dedicated exotic vet), a rehabilitation service, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical caseload, stem cell therapy and inpatient care with a hospital caseload fed from several surrounding practices.

The role allows for a good work life balance by working an average of 39 hours a week over 4 days. You will also be part of a 1:6 weekend rota.

Medivet is growing rapidly and it is an exciting time to join us - we encourage growth and development within your role and are truly committed to help our Medivet family members achieve their goals.

Salary & Benefits:

Competitive salary of up to £55,000, depending on experience

£1,500 CPD allowance with 3 days’ CPD leave per annum or pro rata and in-house CPD training

5 weeks annual leave, plus bank holidays
