Veterinary Night Nurse – Emergency and Critical Care (ECC)

UE05 £23,067-£26,715 (pro rata) + 30% Premium Band Bonus on salaried hours  

MVM/R(D)SVS/Hospital for Small Animals   

Part time, permanent contract

Rolling 12-hour shifts (8pm-8am), 4 on/8 off, averaging 28 hours per week
 
We are seeking an experienced RVN who thrives working in a busy referral environment and loves everything from triage to trauma. If you stay calm under pressure and enjoy fast paced problem solving, this is the job for you.

The Opportunity:

Our team of Critical Care Specialists see cases which require immediate intervention, as well as offering consultations for referring vets on emergency cases.

We have a dedicated, continually-staffed Intensive Care Unit which ensures we provide the highest level of care to patients with life-threatening conditions. This Unit includes advanced climate-controlled oxygen cages. We were the first veterinary hospital in the United Kingdom to provide High Flow Nasal Oxygen therapy for patients with higher oxygen requirements.

Our extensive in-house laboratory facilities, imaging facilities and advanced haemodynamic monitoring capabilities, allow for a rapid diagnosis to be made and treatment to be implemented. Close collaboration with other services within the hospital ensures that each patient gets the best possible care at all times.

Your skills and attributes for success:

The jobholder must be a RCVS registered veterinary nurse (RVN).
2 years’ experience in nursing is essential.

Prior experience working within either a veterinary emergency care setting, ICU, or referral hospital is advantageous- however, full internal training will also be provided.

Proactive work ethic and excellent communication skills are essential

By the time of his death in 1866, the 818 students he had taught were to be found throughout the world. Among them were the founders of veterinary schools in Glasgow, Liverpool, Ireland, Canada, the USA and Australia.

Clyde Street Veterinary College
In the autumn of 1829 William Dick’s lectures were given in Clyde Street, probably in the old building at number 8. It was in Clyde Street that Dick first trained as a farrier at his father's forge.
