UE05 £23,067 – 26,715 pro rata
MVM/R(D)SVS/HfSA
22.5 hours/week (three 7.5 hour days/week with one hour unpaid lunch)  
Shift allocation can be discussed with successful candidate.
12 month maternity contract

The Opportunity:
We are offering an opportunity to join our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team in the Hospital for Small Animals (HfSA) at a very exciting time, as we move towards opening an Emergency Room to complement our busy ICU.

At the HfSA we are open to emergencies 24/7 and offer a friendly and supportive working atmosphere, with a strong tradition of research and innovation. We value our team of ECC nurses highly, offering excellent education and development opportunities.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about providing state-of-the-art nursing for critically ill and emergent patients. You will also be highly motivated to take your career forward by helping us develop and teach critical care nursing within our hospital. Opportunities for additional shifts are available.

Your skills and attributes for success:
·         Essential for candidate to be a registered veterinary nurse (RVN)
·         Prior nursing experience in a busy emergency room and/or in a referral hospital is essential.
·         An advanced diploma in veterinary nursing or advanced certificate in ECC Nursing is preferable.
·         Previous teaching experience is desirable.

William Dick was an outstanding practitioner who made great strides in establishing veterinary education in Scotland. Besides setting up the School in 1823, he was appointed Veterinary Surgeon in Scotland to Queen Victoria in 1844.

By the time of his death in 1866, the 818 students he had taught were to be found throughout the world. Among them were the founders of veterinary schools in Glasgow, Liverpool, Ireland, Canada, the USA and Australia.

Clyde Street Veterinary College
In the autumn of 1829 William Dick’s lectures were given in Clyde Street, probably in the old building at number 8. It was in Clyde Street that Dick first trained as a farrier at his father's forge.
