Job Details

Our Mile End Clinic is expanding, and we are looking for an additional vet to join our friendly team!

We’re developing exciting future plans within Goddard Vet Group as a whole, and specific plans for Mile End, in order to support our many new clients and their pets. If you enjoy variety, flexibility, and a great work-life balance this could be the role for you! Situated opposite Mile End park and a few minutes’ walk from the tube station, this is a vibrant area, suited to those who love the buzz of a London practice with all amenities nearby.

The role is three days: including two shorter -days working alongside our experienced full- time vet Martin. We are flexible in which days these are, and start and finish times. Mondays are sole charge, but with the full support of our experienced nursing team and our Wanstead Hospital. The core role is 26 hours per week plus a 1 in 3 Saturday rota. There is also the option to pick up additional shifts either on an ad-hoc or a permanent basis in other branches to make it a full-time role. There is no night work or on call. To provide a mix between branch and hospital work and to experience ECC work alongside with our hospital teams, ideally, we would also like you to join the weekend rota (1:8) at our RCVS accredited tier 3 hospital in Wanstead.

Our ideal candidate would be confident in GP practice, enjoy a busy environment with a broad and varied caseload, you should be confident in routine surgery and love working as part of a team. We are looking for someone who can fit into our practice culture and values who will enjoy being supported by dedicated colleagues.

In return we can offer a salary of £45,000 - £55,000 (pro- rata for part-time roles) depending on experience. The Goddard Veterinary Group offers a minimum of £2000 CPD allowance (pro-rata) and sees CPD as an investment in the individual as well as for the practice. We are keen to support study for certificate qualifications. We have an excellent benefit package including increasing holiday allowance (up to 6 weeks), BUPA private health insurance as well as cash back / refunds on many routine medical costs such as dental care, physiotherapy, optician, chiropractic fees etc. plus a 24/7 employee assistance programme, generous shopping and leisure discounts and a cycle to work scheme.

Goddard Veterinary Group is a family run practice and was started in 1952 by Arthur Goddard. His son Philip took over the reins in the late ‘90s and remains the practice principal. We are now the largest family-run veterinary practice in the UK and have 44 branches, 3 hospitals and our own nursing college. We have a great reputation for looking after our staff; 20% of our team have been with us 10 years or we are proud of our many 5-star employee reviews on Indeed!

If you are interested in this rewarding role and working with a well-established independent family -run business, please call Fiona Stephens  for an informal chat or apply now.

Goddard Veterinary Group offers opportunities to all levels of talent within the veterinary industry — we care for our people as much as we do for our pets. If you are a strong team player looking to share our philosophy of practicing to the highest clinical standards and providing excellent client care, then why not get in touch? Goddard Veterinary Group was born in 1952 and since then we have grown our business across London with 44 neighbourhood practices, three 24-hour hospitals, our own nursing college and expanding contact centre.

We have a great reputation for looking after our staff; over 20% of our team have been with us 10 years or more and we are proud of our many 5-star employee reviews on Indeed. At the heart of it all, we really value our team. We have created a Colleague Forum to listen to our peers’ views and we have run many virtual Town Hall meetings throughout the pandemic giving us the opportunity to run live polls and Q & A sessions, ensuring we are making the right decisions for our people. All our senior managers are Mental Health First Aid trained and we offer Wellness Plans for all our new starters, so you know you are in good hands.

We are a forward-thinking organisation with big ambitions. We have developed our own successful contact centre to help ease reception pressure in our busy clinics and allowing us more time to chat with our clients about their needs. This year we have a big programme of refurbishments and we are continually reviewing our clinics’ equipment needs to help make them the best they can be.

The bright lights of the city are easily accessible from all our locations, giving you the opportunity to enjoy London at its fullest, whether that be a stroll in leafy parks, meeting people in buzzing bars or having a night out in Theatreland — working with Goddard Veterinary Group can open many doors, in more way than one.
