Job Details

Small animal position in a large RCVS accredited small animal hospital.

The Practice
Seadown is a strong Independent practice where clinical decisions and work life balance are not constrained by a corporate ethos. We are part of the XL Vets group and have a large well-equipped Small Animal Hospital, with two branch surgeries.

There is an experienced 12 SA vet FT equivalent team; and an 18 VN team with diploma holders in anaesthesia, emergency medicine, and surgery ensuring excellent VN support to the vets.

Team and an individual’s development are very important to us and we want to ensure the successful clinical development of new team members.

We also provide an Ophthalmology referral service to the South of England, and have visiting Orthopaedic and Exotics consultants.

There is the added bonus of being located in a National Park, particularly if you like Equine Sports, walking or cycling; as well as the benefits of sun, sea, and surf that come with a coastal location. Like the sound of that? Then come and have a chat.

The role:
We are looking for two new team members, and one of the positions would suit a candidate with the experience to undertake more advanced surgical/diagnostic procedures and the career drive / desire for a potential future management position. But if you just want to be part of skilled and experienced team, in a strong and dynamic practice that provides plenty of support that is fine too!

Successful candidate:
The ideal candidates will bring new ideas to the team and add to the energy and positivity of a team dedicated to excellent client care. The position does involve OOHs cover, so the willingness to recognise the benefits that this brings to practice clients and their animals, as well as the clinical satisfaction of helping an animal when it needs you most, is important.

The package:
Salary commensurate with experience, OOH’s bonus, RCVS/BSAVA fees, and 6.6 weeks holiday on a pro-rata basis, with generous time of in lieu of OOHs cover. CPD is actively encouraged and funded, with Certificate study/Advanced Practitioner status also being very well supported, and holders financially recognised.

Location:
New Forest National Park – Hampshire. With the Hospital being based at Hythe, and branch practices in Lymington and Totton.

Seadown Veterinary Group is a 15-vet mixed practice which was first established in 1923. It has expanded significantly over the years and now has a purpose built and fully equipped hospital at Hythe for our small animal and equine patients. Our branches at Totton and Lymington offer a convenient local service for small animal consultations. The equine and farm animal vets provide an ambulatory service across the New Forest and beyond. We also offer emergency cover for our small and large patients at the Hythe hospital which is manned 24 hours a day. Our great veterinary team have diverse interests and specialist areas including an ophthalmologyreferral service, BAER hearing testing and consultations for exotic species.

We strive to be welcoming, friendly, compassionate and professional towards all of our patients and clients. It is our promise at Seadown Veterinary Group that our well-trained staff will provide exceptional care from the first phone call through to the completion of any treatment.

We encourage our staff to keep up to date and pursue areas of special interest. We are proud to be a nurse training practice and many of our nurses who have completed their training at Seadown then stay with us for many years afterwards. All our vets and nurses regularly participate in ‘CPD’ (continued professional development) and many have obtained further qualifications through their hard work.

Veterinary medicine and surgery is constantly changing and moving forward, and we strive to keep up to date with the latest treatments and medication available.
