About us:

We’re a community of passionate veterinary professionals committed to providing truly exceptional care. We’re set on building something extraordinary: creating the most forward-thinking and innovative place in the veterinary industry.

We’re always looking for people who aspire to stand out in their field, and it’s this vision and enthusiasm that forms the foundation of how we work.

Our mission to deliver progressive, around the clock care means our employees have the very best equipment and treatment options available, including in-house MRI machines and state-of-the-art operating theatres.

We provide ongoing support to our teams, both in practice and through our dedicated training centre. This empowers you to get the very best from our advanced equipment while being on your journey to veterinary excellence.

The role:

We are looking for a Night Vet to join our friendly and experienced team in Thirsk.

Full time - 7 nights on – 14 nights off

The ideal candidate will have a passion for emergency and critical care and will thrive on working at gold standard in patient and client care. All our practices share the same software, so you will have access to your patients’ history at all times; case continuity guaranteed! You will be working 7 nights on 14 nights off. This role may suit an ECC Certificate holder or someone who is working towards this - full funding will be given.

Medivet also offers outstanding career progression, including post-graduate study and partnership. We are growing rapidly and it is an exciting time to join us - we encourage growth and development within your role and are truly committed to help our Medivet family members achieve their goals!

Skills and experience:

You must be a registered Veterinary Surgeon with the RCVS.

You must be confident working sole charge, with the ability to make sound clinical judgement.

Night shift experience is desirable but not essential.

Branch:

This is a thriving practice set in North Yorkshire in the market town of Thirsk with 4 consult rooms, large operating theatre, digital X-ray room, ultrasound and well-equipped prep area. The practice has a large waiting area with a dedicated reception team and night nurse team.

This is a busy branch with a large client base where no two days are like the other. The caseload varies from routine consultations to procedures, from emergency and critical care for our own clients as well as clients from surrounding vets - so no one day is like the other. The branch is well equipped already but also undergoing a refurbishment to gain hospital status including construction of a cat ward, a cat friend waiting area, and a large meeting room for internal CPD and client evenings. We have a large theatre, dedicated imaging suite, a large prep area, a separate dental/treatment area, and four generously proportioned consult rooms. Our in house lab is well equipped.

Relationships are what are important to us - both between our colleagues and to our clients and their pets. We are a historic practice with a rich heritage and we honour that by building strong relationships with each other and our clients, while pushing forward with new techniques and management of cases. We encourage growth in all our staff and opportunities for further education and study are available. The team is dynamic, overflowing with enthusiasm and drive which is contagious and makes everyone strive to achieve their best.

North Yorkshire is a beautiful area, with several world heritage sites on our doorstep, as well as national parks, areas of outstanding national beautify, National Trust, and English Heritage properties. Yorkshire is perfect for adventure, but also for relaxation with an abundance of fine dining, as well as traditional pub grub nearby.
