Permanent Full Time SA Vet Required – Would suit someone with experience or a new graduate.
Due to the retirement of a much-valued colleague and director, we require an enthusiastic colleague to join our well-established friendly team of vets, nurses and support staff in beautiful rural Lancashire. We are an independent RCVS tier 2 accredited practice based in Garstang, situated on the edge of the Trough of Bowland (AONB), with easy access to the cities of Lancaster and Preston and less than an hour from Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District.
The main branch at Garstang benefits from full lab facilities, capnography, direct capture digital x-ray, ultrasound, flexible and rigid endoscopy and otoscopy, electrosurgery and ventilator. All inpatients are hospitalised here and benefit from 24 hours nurse care including dedicated night nurses, who answer the telephone and triage OOH calls.
In addition to the main hospital branch in Garstang, we also have 3 self-contained branches situated in Cottam near Preston, Lancaster and Poulton-Le-Fylde, all equipped with in house biochemistry/haematology/urinalysis, capnography, ultrasound and digital x-ray, enabling the provision of full medical, surgical and diagnostic services.
We hold three outstanding standard RCVS awards in the areas of client care, teamwork and outpatient consulting and pride ourselves on our friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere making Lanes Vets such a great place to work and develop your career. We have colleagues enrolled in the Vet GDP advisor course at each branch, to ensure any new graduate receives full and appropriate support.
Our excellent clinical standards are achieved through case continuity, teamwork, communication and the use of evidence–based medicine. We have in house certificate holders in dermatology, diagnostic imaging, small animal surgery and small animal medicine as well as visiting specialists in dentistry and cardiology, all of whom are happy to give advice or take on a case as a referral.
Support is available also from the whole team via our clinical WhatsApp group, regular SA vet meetings and bimonthly clinical club (with chippy tea!) – Covid 19 has meant Zoom meetings, but hopefully we will resume as normal in the summer. Personal and professional development is important to us as a practice and vets are encouraged to find their niche. Areas of special interest are amply funded, with an additional CPD allowance available for those wishing to study for a relevant certificate.
The job is full-time consisting of a 4-day week, with weekend/OOH work shared equally between 15 vets.
Time off in lieu, after a weekend on call.
Salary is 31k-£55k depending on experience plus £1,500 CPD allowance, 24 days holiday plus bank holidays and 5 days paid days for CPD.
This is a great job but please don’t take our word for it. Please give us a ring and have a chat with one of our current vets.
