Job Details

Sprinz and Nash have an exciting position available as head nurse. You will be leading a team of registered, student and auxiliary nurses in our veterinary hospital in Thame, Oxfordshire. You will be in a position of responsibility in the leadership and management of a team of eight nurses and design and oversee the training of student and auxiliary nurses. You will work closely with our team of vets and be involved in clinical discussion of cases.

Work for our nurses begins at 8am and the shift patterns are built around an eight hour day, 40 hours a week. You will be proficient in theatre nursing, recovery, kennel nursing, radiography, laboratory work and be involved in our active nursing clinics which the hospital provides. Thame Hospital is responsible for the out of hours care of our inpatients. As Head nurse your duties involving night work will be to support the transition of our student nurses onto the night rota.  You will be encouraged to advance your skill set through supported training.

Salary range up to £30,000 depending on experience. The practice will, if required, be able to provide accommodation on site. This is in the heart of Thame with all amenities within walking distance and with private parking.

Sprinz and Nash Veterinary Surgeons is a long-established Veterinary Hospital in the lovely rural market town of Thame. We are very easy access to both Oxford and London and are situated in the beautiful countryside of the Chilterns in the South-East of England. Thame has an expanding population of young families and we are in the catchment area of several outstanding Primary and Secondary Schools. Our practice is recruiting with the aim of maintaining the very high clinical standards already set and giving the rewarding work life balance expected from the modern RVN.

We offer a well experienced and interactive team of lovely vets, nurses and support staff.
As we are a training hospital you will be encouraged in the training and assistance for our student veterinary nurses. You will have the ability to further your own clinical interests which will be actively supported.

The out of hours care that we provide for our inpatients will enable anyone with an emergency and critical care interest to be furthering their experience. Our hospital provides separate dog/cat wards, isolation facilities, on-site laboratory, digital x ray, dental x ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy and enjoys the standards expected from an RCVS Veterinary Hospital.

We are currently a team of eight vets over three sites, with five vets working from the Thame hospital. We are expanding our veterinary and nursing teams to provide an excellent work-life balance. You will be based at Thame and be interacting with our vets, nurses, student nurses and auxiliary staff and assisted by our support staff, some of whom have been with us for very many years. We have an active social presence in the area (present situation permitting) and are currently planning our fund raising charity event for this year.

We are interested to hear from candidates of all experience levels, whether you have just qualified and need support, or if you have a wealth of experience and are looking for recognition of this in the position that you are seeking. Either way, you will be part of a kind, caring and dedicated team of lovely people.
