Job Details
Hawick Veterinary Practice is seeking to employ a part time Registered Veterinary Nurse. Based in the heart of the Scottish Borders, this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.
As the only veterinary practice in the town, we are a busy mixed animal practice with many opportunities for development.
We are a team of six full time equivalent Veterinary Surgeons, five Registered Veterinary Nurses and two Veterinary Nursing students.
We are proud to be able to offer our clients a variety of services including-
- Ultrasound
- Dental radiography
- Radiography
- Endoscopy
- Surgical facilities for routine surgeries
- We are able to offer our clients specialist orthopaedic, cardiology and horse dentistry appointments and surgeries with independent specialists that work from our premises.
The role will be a part-time role of 25 hours per week, including a maximum of one in five on call weekend work.
Salary commensurate of experience.
Generous holiday entitlement of seven weeks per year pro rata.
CPD is encouraged and an allowance given.
RCVS membership fees included.
We are looking for a reliable and hard working nurse that is able to fit in with our team of friendly nurses.
Your role would consist of:
- Performing nurse consultations
- Monitoring patient anaesthesia
- Patient care and kennel duties
- Administration duties
- Assisting vets with their duties
- Patient and client care and experience is extremely important to us therefore wonderful customer service is a must.

By the start of the 70s, the practice had expanded so much that new premises were needed, and we moved across the square to the north side.
However, our biggest move came in 2011 when we relocated to purpose-built premises. This new location gave us space for stables and stocks for horses, a treatment area for small farm animals, as well as all the surgery and consultation areas we wanted.
Our bigger and better facilities meant that we could get even closer to our ultimate goal – to provide a veterinary healthcare service that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers and staff.
