New 24/7 ECC service in Newport from Vets Now
Due to continued growth we are looking for an experienced full time Vet Surgeon to complete the team in our new 24/7 venture in Newport.
Together we save pets lives
At Vets Now Newport you will be based within Alphavet Veterinary Centre, part of the IVC Evidensia group. You will work alongside their first opinion and referral Vet Surgeons as well as a visiting Ophthalmologist. This is a unique opportunity to work in emergency and be exposed to the exciting caseload that brings without having to work night shifts.
A work life more inspiring
Working in emergency 24/7 you’ll see a stimulating and varied caseload; have clinical independence and you’ll make an immediate difference to the pets you treat on every shift. You will work an average of 40 hours per week, made up for 4x 10 hours shifts and every other weekend. Shifts may include:
Monday - Friday: 0700-1700 or 1600-0200
Saturday and Sunday: 0700-1700 or 1000-2000 or 1200-2200 or 1600-0200
Get off on the right foot
We can also offer a place on AdvantEdge, our two-week programme for experienced Vets. AdvantEdge is aimed at Vets with at least two years UK small animal or mixed practice experience, and who want to top-up their emergency medical and surgical knowledge whilst learning new techniques. The lectures on AdvantEdge are delivered virtually by diplomats in ECC, Internal Medicine and Surgery as well as experienced ECC clinicians. The programme also features mentored shifts in clinic - an ideal opportunity to work alongside an experienced emergency clinician and put into practice everything you’ve picked up on the programme.

Company
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
