Job Details

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at the Veterinary Hospital in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Sprinz and Nash Veterinary Surgeons has been serving the community in Thame, Princes Risborough, Chinnor and the surrounding villages for over 40 years.

We have an excellent local reputation, experienced and dedicated teams and a strong focus on staff well-being, with a good work/life balance.

The position is either full time or could lend itself to those wishing to appreciate the benefits of part-time work. The Oxfordshire/ Buckinghamshire border has excellent schools, wonderful countryside and good connections. Train services are half an hour to London, easy train and road access to Oxford and only an hour and a half to drive to the South coast.

The working hours would be based at the Thame Hospital which will enable involvement in all aspects of Veterinary work including medical workups, emergency critical care and surgery. Thame Hospital is well equipped with on site lab, digital and dental X-Ray, endoscopy and Ultrasound.

The full-time position is for 40 hours a week, with no on-call. We consult by appointment only and we work with the ethos of thorough workups and continuity of care. We therefore look after our own in-patients and this is shared on a 1:5 weekdays and 1:5 weekend basis. You will be supported by a qualified team of Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Hospital facilities and equipment.

We offer a competitive and attractive salary commensurate with your experience. CPD is encouraged and generously funded. We have a pension scheme, staff discount benefits and RCVS, BVA, and VDS memberships. You will be required to work alongside our team to deliver a high standard of care to all our clients and patients.

Two years’ experience as a working Veterinary Surgeon is preferred. You must be able to work well as part of a team and individually and show initiative and an enthusiasm to expand your knowledge.

Good communication skills and experience in customer/client care is essential for this role.

Company

Reception Service

The reception area is the part of the practice you will be most familiar with. This is where we greet and check in our clients/patients and reunite you with your pets. Our friendly receptionists are always there to help and answer any questions you might have.

Consultation Rooms

If you have ever brought your pet in to see a vet you will also be familiar with our consulting rooms. We have two veterinary consulting rooms and a nurse consulting room. These are each equipped with all the small instruments our vets may need to carry out clinical examinations and primary care treatment. Each consulting room is also equipped with a computer so the vet will be able to access your animal’s medical record easily.
