Area Vet or Remote Consult Vet - UK Wide Opportunities

Salary: £33,281 to £43,421pa (includes travel allowance)

Permanent contract. Full or Part time options.

Saving Pets, Changing Lives

PDSA have created two brand new roles to help us respond to the challenge of COVID. Because we are prioritising safe ways of working, everything takes longer and demand is increasing. So we need veterinary surgeons who can work with us in a different, more flexible way to deliver essential services to those pets and people most in need.

Why join the team at PDSA? John Faulkner, Principal of Regional Vet Services, explains why we are different;

“We are passionate about what we do and supporting our pet hospital teams during the pandemic is our top priority as a senior team. Safety and wellbeing are critical to us and we are doing everything we can to keep clients and colleagues safe and workload manageable in these challenging times. Our pet hospitals are just as busy and we’ve had to find new ways of working; our vets are still managing a varied diagnostic and surgical caseload, carrying out consults at the pet hospital and remotely from home. We are different because we are the only emergency service for people and pets in need. Come and see what it’s like to make a difference every day.”

Our new Area Vet is a role full of variety which will cover 2 to 3 Pet Hospitals. You will be rota’d to cover consultations, diagnostics and surgery at the Pet Hospitals and will also have the flexibility to do remote consults from home.

Our priority locations for this role are;

  • Glasgow (Glasgow SS and Glasgow East Pet Hospitals)
  • North East ( Newcastle, Sunderland and Gateshead Pet Hospitals)
  • East Midlands (Nottingham, Derby and Leicester Pet Hospitals)
  • Birmingham and West Midlands (Aston, Oldbury and Wolves Pet Hospitals)
  • Liverpool (Huyton and Kirkdale Pet Hospitals)
  • North London (Bow, Ilford, Romford Pet Hospitals)
  • Kent (Gillingham and Margate Pet Hospitals)
  • South Coast (Brighton and Portsmouth Pet Hospitals)

 Our new Remote consults Vet is reflective of the innovation experienced during lockdown when looking at different ways to deliver essential services. The role is home based with flexible patterns of working and all equipment and training will be provided to set you up for success.

 Additional benefits include;

  • Allocated CPD funding
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Contributory Pension Scheme
  • Life assurance
  • RCVS fees paid in full

If neither of these options suit you, we are always looking to engage with Vet Surgeons on a flexible basis via our In-House Locum Bank which operates on a zero hours basis and you can choose how you work with us.

PDSA is one of the Sunday Times Top 100 Not for Profit Organisations. So, if you want to join an amazing team in any of these roles and make a real difference to clients and their pets, we would love to hear from you.

PDSA is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

Why work at PDSA?

One look and you'll know.

A yelping dog with broken leg. A crying cat with a sore paw. A listless bird that’s off its food. A stressed small furry that’s too scared to come out from hiding.

A sick and injured pet tugs at our heartstrings. Helping them back to health and seeing the happiness on their owner’s face is hugely satisfying. It’s about caring: seeing the real value of a loving relationship between pet and owner.

Every year 470,000 pets need our help with over 2.7 million treatments to stop them suffering from sickness, injury and to prevent them from dying. This makes PDSA the UK’s leading veterinary charity

We believe that we work better together, so everyone helps. From our vets and volunteers to our shop and office support staff – we are a dedicated team who are passionate about pets. Join us at PDSA and help improve the lives of every pet. Whoever you are, wherever you live and whatever you do – it helps make a difference – thank you.
