Emergency Veterinary Surgeon - Lancashire

This is a new role that has been created due to the increase in work load. The surgery has all the usual toys, endoscopes, digital x-ray, orthopaedic kits to enable a veterinary surgeon to do their job.

We have an in-house Idexx lab including haematologly biochemistry, electrolytes, ionised calcium, urine analysis and SediVue.

It is the team that is unique. The nurses and vets are of a high calibre and I am looking for someone outstanding to join them to help manage the varied and sometimes challenging cases that arrive out-of-hours.

The job will have a rolling rota working:
Week 1 - Thursday night from 6.30pm to Friday 8.30am and Saturday 12 noon until Sunday 6.30pm. Nurse will be on call to assist. There is full accommodation for over night stays. During the weekends there are several nurses and an animal care assistant. Sleep is permitted based on caseload, hospitalised patients and phone calls.

Week 2 - On call Wednesday and Friday nights, with the same pattern 6.30 pm until 8.30am and then Sunday 8.30am until Monday 8.30am.
