Referral Internal Medic - Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
We are Lime Trees Vets Referrals, an independent Veterinary Hospital in the heart of the Midlands. We are on the lookout for a referral medic to work alongside our existing advanced practitioners in Small Animal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery and Dermatology.
We have the support, facilities and a great group of loyal referring vets, enabling us to deliver a superb standard of advanced care to referred dogs and cats from Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and occasionally beyond.
We are looking for a forward thinking vet who will thrive as part of our referral team, a vet whose ethos is quality not quantity. We want you to enjoy building relationships with referring vets and be confident in guiding their clients through what are often complex and potentially costly diagnostic and treatment options.
Passing on our skills and knowledge is important to us, so Lime Trees Vets is a Partner Practice for the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine.
We host final year students as part of their rotations and those interested in education are trained to be their clinical instruction mentors. Meir Park is located just off the A50 on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent, an ideal location with both city life and idyllic countryside just a stone’s throw away, and linking easily to the M6 or M1. The boss arrived 23 years ago, fresh faced from vet school, liked the area and practice so much he never left.
The post would suit an advanced practitioner or possibly a vet in their final training to become one. Consideration would be given to a specialist who would like to move from corporate referral practice. The position is possible as a full or part time post. Typical case load is one or two new cases a day, as well as assisting first opinion colleagues with more complex cases and providing advice to referring vets.
There are no OOH duties and Vets Now Stoke are based at our Hospital. We have a close relationship with the Vets Now team, many of whom are certificate holders in ECC. This means we can hospitalise our critical patients and sleep at night, literally. As you would expect, our extensive equipment includes DR x-ray, high quality ultrasound, video endoscopy, laparoscopy, visiting CT and MRI, with in house CT in the pipeline.
The salary is generous and reflects your experience and what you would bring to the referral service and wider practice. Add in a substantial CPD budget, company pension, staff discount scheme and RCVS/VDS/BVA/BSAVA/SAMSoc etc fees paid.
