Job Details

Great opportunity for you to thrive and become member of a growing small animal practice in Driffield, East Yorkshire. This would suit a recently qualified practitioner with a broad range of interest, looking to continue their veterinary journey and hopefully set down roots. You'll have full clinical freedom and support to continue to build on a well-established practice base and to be part of a close clinical team.

You will be involved with all aspects of the practice from first consultations through clinical work ups and surgical cases. This could suit someone looking to study for a certificate in the future with time available within the rota to complete this. You will be a self-motivated small animal vet looking to embrace general practice with the huge variety of cases, people and animals it presents, as well as enjoying great work/life balance as part of a dedicated vet team.

As a confident communicator you look forward to meeting and talking with clients on a daily basis, as well as greeting and caring for their companions. You also have a passion for striving to provide the best care possible for your patients and working as a part of a small dedicated team to this end. On call is only one week night every two weeks, and one weekend every three months.

The salary package will be in line with your experience. CPD is encouraged and funded as is study for a certificate. You will get 23 days holiday plus five of the eight bank holidays.

Bridge Street Vets was established in 2013 but in a relatively short time has become a very well respected and most recommended practice in the town largely due to our people orientated approach. We occupy a former doctor’s surgery, within which we knocked down a few walls and moved a few doorways and, hey presto, a spacious, sunny environment to work in. (As you'll see from the pictures on our web page we also did quite a lot more.)  We are proud to show new clients around and everybody is impressed on the standards of the premises and the cleanliness and space.

Facilities include;

  • Two consulting rooms with height adjustable tables (with a third planned),
  • Two waiting areas,
  • Separate dog and cat inpatient wards,
  • Isolation ward,
  • Imaging room, with digital x ray processor and ultrasound scanner
  • In house IDEXX  haematology and biochemistry analysers,
  • Dedicated operating theatre
  • Large preparation area
  • Dental station with nitrogen powered air tools and ultrasonic scaler.

In addition we have our own fully equipped ‘Sunshine Groomers’ salon with two full time groomers employed by the practice. The south facing gardens to the rear provide us with the ideal place for a quiet and relaxing sunny summertime lunch breaks.

As a VN training practice we are proud of our first trainee who qualified in 2017, with a second due to qualify this year and a third looking to start training in Autumn. Together they form the backbone of a well-run and organised practice.

Driffield, a former market town at the foot of the East Yorkshire Wolds, lies between the historic city of York to the west and the picturesque East Coast sandy beaches, firmly in the heart of David Hockney country. It is ideally placed for a broad range of pastimes and outdoor pursuits. There are local schools from infant through to sixth form within the town, and a good stock of new and traditional houses. It has its own sports centre and swimming pool, a variety of pubs and restaurants as well as many local sports clubs and societies. Company

The Practice occupies a large former Doctors surgery that has been extensively adapted to our own design and requirements. There is a large private car park and lawned grounds to the rear. Entrance to the building is via two automatic doors leading to spacious reception and waiting areas. There are two good sized consulting rooms either side of a central dispensary. We are fully computerised using the Robovet practice management system which is very easy to learn.

The clinical area to the rear is centred round a large preparation area with;

  • Dog ward with large walk in glass fronted kennel and further stainless kennels
  • Cat ward with good sized stainless cages and lab area
  • Latest Idexx in house Lasercyte and Catalyst one machines.
  • Dedicated operating room
  • X ray room with digital processor
  • Isolation room
  • Utility room

The preparation room also contains our tub sink for dental work.

All rooms are finished to a high standard

The building has natural light throughout with the south facing preparation room bathed in sunshine for long periods of the day making this a very pleasant building to work in.

Our facilities are further enhanced by a well equipped grooming parlour run by our fully qualified groomer, and our shop containing a good stock of high quality Pet Face products.

Being a new start practice we are constantly adding instruments and equipment as and when required. The practice was designed with the specific intent to become part of the practice standards scheme within a short period. We became a VN training practice this August and have enrolled or first nurse In September 2015. Nursing is carried out by two experienced non-VN qualified nurses and both are keen to start the formal training. In addition to this we currently have one principle vet two receptionists and a manager.

We are very proud of our client care and facilities and, as we expand, feel this represents an ideal practice for similarly like-minded individuals to settle in with many of the plus points of a big practice, especially the building and space to grow, coupled to the small practice benefits of a more friendly and personal approach to our clients with excellent levels of client continuity.

This is a lovely place to work where we don't look forward to the weekend or dread Mondays. Nobody here sees this as just a job, our work provides us with enjoyment and a collective satisfaction of a job well done.
