We are seeking a registered veterinary surgeon, who is passionate about animal welfare to join the veterinary team based in our Harefield (West London) rehoming centre on a 10 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK with a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 14,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog to sleep.

This role provides clinical veterinary work in a busy shelter environment. You will provide clinical care to maintain and improve the welfare of dogs housed in the centre, helping coordinate the running of the vet suite alongside the registered veterinary nurse, and be clinically responsible for the veterinary services on site.

You will be an enthusiastic person having excellent interpersonal skills to interact with the public and colleagues. As this is a sole charge role, you must be confident in consultations and routine surgery. You will be able to show empathy and understanding towards both dogs and people and be committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and customer service. You should be motivated by the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust with an appreciation of handling dogs in accordance with our guidelines of using positive reinforcement techniques.

A full, clean driving licence is essential We are seeking a candidate to ideally start in this role by January 2021

The current provision on site is working Monday to Friday and we will need 3-4 days per week provided.  However, there may be some flexibility permitted surrounding the work pattern and start date and applicants should indicate in their cover letter if they are seeking a more flexible position.
