Job Details

Our lovely vet Andrea is heading south of the river to join our Brixton team so we need a fantastic vet to fill his shoes at our busy practice in Acton, West London.

Acton is a long established and hugely successful branch in a popular residential area of London. Built in an old bank the practice has lots of space and has a unique cat kennels built in the old vault! The clinic has all the usual toys including a shiny new dental x-ray. Acton is also part of the IFSM cat friendly scheme and our lovely RVN Margaret, has received the Distance Learning Award for best result achieved in the Diploma in Feline Nursing. The practice is proud to be involved with lots of work for the local branch of Cat's Protection Charity.

We are looking for a clinician who can fit into our practice culture and values and just enjoy being a great GP. Are you a good communicator who fits well into a team but can also lead when required? Would you relish helping to advance our standards of patient care and client service? Are you able to build trusting relationships easily? Can you manage your time, prioritise well and do you enjoy getting the job done but also relish having a life outside of work?

The role involves no night work or on call.  The rota includes every Thursday afternoon off and 1:3 Saturdays, we would also potentially consider a job share rota.  We would love you to support our hospital colleagues at our RCVS accredited tier 3 hospital in Northolt on a 1:8 Sunday day- time only rota. The Mandeville Hospital has great 24 hr facilities including CT, an excellent ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment and an array of specialists and provides a great environment to develop your ECC skills. The branch role is sole charge but is fully supported by the hospital team.

The salary is in the region of £50k-60k depending on experience and there is a generous £2000 CPD allowance. The Goddard Veterinary Group sees CPD as an investment in the individual, as well as for the practice, and is keen to support study for certificate qualifications. We have an excellent benefit package including increasing holiday allowance (up to 6 weeks!), BUPA private health insurance as well as cash back / refunds on many routine medical costs such as dental care, physiotherapy, optician, chiropody fees etc. plus a 24/7 employee assistance programme, generous shopping and leisure discounts and a cycle to work scheme.

Pleasant self -contained accommodation with a shared outside space is available if required. Acton is a great place to live and work with fantastic rail and tube links and cross-rail is on its way with a station opposite the practice!

Goddard Veterinary Group is a family run practice and was started in 1952 by Arthur Goddard. His son Philip took over the reins in the late 90’s and remains the practice principal. We are now the largest family-run veterinary practice in the UK and have 44 branches, 3 hospitals and our own nursing college. We have a great reputation for looking after our staff; over 20% of our team have been with us 10 years or more and please take a few minutes to look at our numerous 4 and 5-star employee reviews on Indeed!
