Take the next step in your career with AdvantEdge

AdvantEdge, our emergency and critical care programme, is designed for Vet Surgeons with a minimum of two years’ experience in small animal or mixed practice that are now looking to cement ECC skills or boost their confidence in exploring a new career path.

Teach new emergency skills

The lectures are delivered virtually by diplomats in ECC, Internal Medicine and Surgery as well as experienced ECC Vets. The programme also features a cadaver practical and mentored shifts in-clinic. Working alongside another Vet Surgeon during this mentored period is the ideal time to put everything learned on the programme into practice prior to being sole charge.

Receive 75 hours of CPD

Many Vet Surgeons choose to join Vets Now, via AdvantEdge, to receive enhanced CPD and be motivated by our ECC experts. Learning alongside like-minded Vet Surgeons creates a culture that we’re extremely proud of, and the programme is a great way to build relationships and extend your support network of emergency Vets throughout the country.

Start dates led by you

The programme runs in May and November, but we recruit all year round for AdvantEdge Vets. We will establish what works best for you, taking into consideration your situation, to ensure the next step in your career happens in the right place and at the right time.

We look after you, so you can look after them

Recognising hard work is important to us, and that’s why we have invested in a first-class benefits package that includes:

  • 6.6 weeks pro rata annual leave
  • Your birthday as a paid day off
  • Private medical insurance
  • Comprehensive CPD allowance
  • Pension contributions
  • Professional membership fees
  • 50% discounted staff pet care
  • Death in service of two times annual salary
  • Membership of employee wellbeing programme

Company

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
