Additional veterinary surgeon needed for SPVS Wellbeing Medium Practice Winner 2019.

Are you looking for a new direction? Are you wanting to expand your skills – medically or surgically? Do you want to join an RCVS Outstanding hospital practice, with 24-hour care for your inpatients and continuity of care? Do you want a flexible rota with opportunity to build your own caseload and see an interesting mix of patients? Then we could be the practice for you!

We are looking for an additional veterinary surgeon to grow the team. We are experienced in supporting new grads, and won Vets4pets Graduate Practice of the Year 2019. We also have the caseload to support a certificate for more experienced vets, and have 2 certificate holders and Advanced Practitioners in the team. We can offer a bespoke shift pattern, and if interested in ECC we can include OOH shifts with support if needed.

Northampton Vets4pets is rated “Outstanding” in all six areas by RCVS. We are very proud to have won SPVS Well-being Medium Practice of the Year 2019, and think that we can offer a great work/life balance to our colleagues.

We are located just an hour from London and Birmingham and Milton Keynes is 30 minutes away by car. Northampton has great commuter links with airports within an hour’s drive. If you prefer the country life there are lovely picturesque villages and countryside within 15 minutes of the practice, and the local area has many outstanding schools.

Person Specification
Our offer to you:

  • Pastoral care, emotional wellbeing and support, mental health first aiders on-site
  • Free access to the Retail Hub wellbeing service including access to professional support and counselling
  • Birthday leave
  • Volunteer days paid - paid days off for you to volunteer for your chosen charity
  • Free gym membership
  • Regular social events paid for by the practice

Being a 24-hour hospital practice the caseload is high and variable. The practice is fully equipped with all the toys you would expect, and we provide our own 24-hour care for hospitalised patients needing intensive post op care. We have a dedicated night team who provide OOH cover for eight other practices as well as working closely with the RSPCA and other local charities. We have built exceptionally strong and trusted relationships with our clients and we are looking for a vet who enjoys this side of the role just as much as the clinical responsibilities.

Benefits
By joining this lovely team you will be working alongside 10 Vets, 11 RVN’s, 2 SVN’s, 4 VCA’s, 5 receptionists and 2 practice managers. The JVP is a certificate holder in general practice with 20 years’ experience, and we also have medicine and surgical certificate holders on the team. We hold regular clinical meetings, discuss protocols and run an open and honest culture encouraging development, change and support for our colleagues.

Above all else, we value someone who is a team player; committed to our patients and clients; and is keen to be a part of our team!

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
