Small animal vet to work in busy, friendly practice

The Practice
Independent mixed practice, looking for a SA vet, no expectation of LA work. Everyone’s input is valued with

supportive management and team alike. Good mentoring in both your working life and mental wellbeing. The support staff all enjoy a social relationship as well as a being work colleagues. The practice has a homely feel where many clients come to know us as people as well as their vets.

The Role

Small animal vet to work in a busy friendly practice. You will be joining our small animal team. We have a small animal medicine certificate holder and a vet halfway through her orthopaedic certificate.

Our main base is at our surgery on the east side of Carlisle which is equipped to tackle most cases - we do our own orthopaedics, medical workups and this is where we care for our own in-patients. Three to four vets work from this surgery each day so there is plenty of support and opportunity to discuss cases.

We have newly opened a practice on the west side of Carlisle, this can involve you being sole vet (with support staff, often nurses) on duty. Shifts there would only be allocated once you were confident in role.

1 in 6 rota with lieu time for weekend work.

Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will have a readiness to understand clients concerns and enthusiasm to see cases through even when advice from others is needed. They will enjoy the feeling of being part of the practice family and be trustworthy. They will also need a strong ability with the English language both written and spoken.

The Package

  • 5 Weeks + bank holiday leave (33 days in total)
  • memberships paid (Royal college, BVA and VDS)

Location
Based in Carlisle, which has a very rural feel alongside having all the benefits of Urban living. Easy reach of the lake district.

Company

The practice was established by a Craig Robinson in 1898. For many years the practice was based in Aglionby street, Carlisle, close to the two cattle markets which used to operate in the city centre, and close to the council’s horse yard for which Craig Robinson was the vet. Craig’s son Willie joined the practice and eventually Willie’s son, also called Craig, took over.

Craig Robinson Vets relocated to Rosehill in 1985. We currently service over 60 dairy farms as well as numerous beef and sheep units. We treat horses and are the official vets for Carlisle racecourse. Our companion animal clinic becomes busier year on year and our staff numbers have continued to rise to meet the demand. Many of our vets specialise in either pets or farm animals.
