A rare opportunity for a small animal vet to join our well established independent 2 vet practice focusing on quality of care and good work-life balance.

Daisey pic 1The Practice
We are a genuinely independent small animal practice located in the small town of Blackburn. We have been established for over 60 years and pride ourselves on the level of care we give our patients. Sam and John (the owners) have been at the practice 16 and 23 years respectively!

The relatively low number of clients per vet allows us more time with each case and enables us to treat animals and clients as individuals.
We have a low staff turnover creating a stable environment for our team and clients. Our team of experienced RVN's (x5), nursing assistants and receptionists are friendly and supportive.

We have all the usual equipment you would expect a first opinion practice to have.

Small town near the beautiful Ribble Valley with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Manchester and Liverpool.

The Role
For the first time in over a decade we are looking for an assistant veterinary surgeon to join our amazing team. Our senior ex-partner is winding down to retirement and so we need an additional vet to share the clinical work with the 2 vet owners.

The role would suit someone looking for a supportive, friendly environment with clinical freedom and a life outside of work.

Ideally we require an experienced vet for 20-25 hours per week plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings consulting.  The role will eventually involve sole charge but there is a wonderful support team on hand and one of the other vets can be called if needed. For this reason we would also consider a new graduate and supply appropriate training for the right future team member.
In addition to regular hours we would like some extra cover when one of the other 2 vets is on holiday.

Daisey pic 3We are flexible with regards to a working rota that will suit everyone and fit around life outside of work. We open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 6pm and Saturday mornings, 8.30-12pm. There is no OOH or on call work and we are closed all bank holidays.

We are hoping to grow the practice so there is scope to build your own loyal client base and work to more hours if this suits.

One of our vets is keen on exotic species and our head nurse is an exotic specialist so we see more than our fair share. We are also a veterinary nurse training centre so the ideal candidate would enjoy being involved with this and general clinical discussions with various members of the team.

A locum would be considered as a temporary measure with potential to convert to permanent if the right candidate wanted this.

Successful Candidate
Our ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic, caring vet, who would fit into our family team. They would be capable but also keen to build on their clinical and surgical skills.

Being a small independent practice we are open to new ideas and value input from all team members. Here you can make a difference and have a say in the future of your practice.

The Package
RCVS and VDS membership fees, inclusion into staff pension scheme, CPD of your choice.
5 weeks paid holiday and all bank holidays off.
Starting at £25/hour, which equates to £27700 - £34200, depending on hours worked.
