Our team here at Banbury Vets4Pets is looking for a confident, forward-thinking and RCVS accredited Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing surgery.

This is a chance to work within a great environment and be a part of a very supportive and friendly team. We are located within the Pets at Home store in Banbury, which is a lively and expanding market town located just off the M40 with easy access to Oxford, Birmingham, London and The Cotswolds.

Richard Knight, the senior vet and Joint Venture Partner, qualified from Bristol University in 1995 and has 15 years of general mixed practice experience including small animal, exotics, farm, equine and zoo animals. He has also worked within The Vet Group for the last 10 years, the last 6 of which as JVP and owner of Banbury Vets4Pets. Richard’s ethos of providing high standard veterinary and client care is greatly supported and fulfilled by the experienced clinical and non-clinical team.

By joining us at Banbury you will be welcomed as part of a friendly and dynamic team who have a strong relationship with our Pets at Home store colleagues. We work closely together and are keen to share our ideas which enables us to provide exceptional client and animal care. You will bring excellent communication skills, and relish being part of this very friendly, relaxed and progressive team that prides itself on being open to new ways of working. The team currently consists of 2 vets, Head Nurse plus 3 RVNs, 1student nurse, 1 veterinary care assistant, 3 client care advisors and a practice manager.

We are looking for a confident and personable vet with at least 2 years clinical experience in small animal practice, and who is comfortable in sole charge on a weekend rota basis, with additional clinical support as necessary. Our spacious, three consulting room surgery is equipped to a high standard with a full in-house laboratory, digital CR radiography, ultra-sound, well equipped surgical theatre with diathermy, capnography, multi-parameter monitor and piped anaesthetic gases in all areas of the surgery. We see a very varied case load in lots of species from dogs and cats to reptiles and raptors, from routine health consults and complex medical cases to orthopaedic surgery. Over 30% of our active client base are insured and a majority are on a health plan.

Along with the support of the rest of the team, you will be able to utilise and develop your skills and expertise to provide a high standard of care to meet your clients’ expectations. We encourage ownership of cases, whilst providing good support from all colleagues at the surgery as well as those in the Pets at Home store and our support office.

This position is full or part time with a minimum of 25 hours per week, including a 1 in 3 weekend rota (Saturdays 9am -5pm and Sundays 10am - 4pm) and there will be no OOH allowing for an excellent work/life balance.

As you would expect from the market leader in small animal veterinary care we offer a very supportive and friendly working environment together with career development opportunities and an excellent colleague benefits package.  The salary package is negotiable commensurate with experience and CPD (including possible certificate) is funded and actively encouraged.

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service and would like to join our team, then we would love to hear from you.

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
