Job Details

We are looking for a full-time or part-time veterinary nurse or second year student nurse.

The Practice
Our recently renovated hospital premises is in Bridgend. We are looking for maternity cover and are upsizing our nursing team. We have silver level cat friendly status from the ISFM and our Bridgend branch has been awarded “outstanding” in 5 separate RCVS awards, in large parts due to the efforts of our amazing nurse team.

Our hospital premises are fully equipped with diagnostic and surgical equipment, with our branches running their own diagnostic investigations and internally referring cases which require hospitalisation.

Location
Coastal South Wales, 45 minutes over the Severn crossing and convenient for the Welsh capital, coast, Brecon Beacons.

The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and compassionate nurse or second year student nurse to join our busy team at our fully equipped hospital. As a Maes Glas nurse you will assist in managing a variety of medical and surgical cases and will be able to get heavily involved in all aspects of the nursing job including nurse consultations and owner education.

Although the role is primarily based in our Bridgend hospital, you will also be required to work in our branches when necessary and so will need a driving licence.

Nurses currently work a 5 day week with some weekend work. Holiday is 20 days/year and registration fees are paid.

Night rota work comes with an associated bonus but will not necessarily be compulsory.

Roles and responsibilities will be dependent on experience.

Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will be willing to work as part of a large team but also able to work independently. We expect our nurses to demonstrate high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and be efficient and proactive. You must have a passion for caring for animals, and excellent customer service skills as we pride ourselves on the level of care that is provided to our patients and clients.

The Package
Salary commensurate with experience, pension, CPD allowance, night work bonus scheme, RVN registration fees.

Company

Our practice includes a 35-vet team, including Advanced Practitioners in small animal medicine, cardiology and surgery, allowing us to not only diagnose and treat the majority of our cases in-house, without the need for referral, but also provide support to other team members in their career progression. Further studies are actively encouraged with many of our vets currently undertaking certificates in medicine, surgery and emergency and critical care.

Alongside our main hospital in Bridgend, we have five branches across South Wales. We remain committed to excellent clinical care and extremely high standards, with a gold level cat friendly status from the ISFM and five separate "outstanding” RCVS awards.
