Job Details

If you enjoy team work (daily rounds, case discussions in a relaxed non-judgemental fashion, working with skilled, experienced and motivated nurses) then READ ON.

If you could fill the space in our team for someone who particularly loves SMALL ANIMAL MEDICINE. You may not have a certificate in this area but if you have a drive to push for answers to investigate fully, to push yourself, then READ ON.

The Practice
We are a fiercely independent practice with a hospital and 2 branch surgeries. We have 9 vets, 10 nurses (7 RVNs) and 14 support staff. Between us we hold certificates in ophthalmology, cardiology and surgery. Other vets are working towards their feline medicine and surgery certs. Our head nurse has her emergency care certificate.

We believe in high quality care for all our patients. We work up cases thoroughly but refer when it is best for the animals. As you would expect, we have two theatres, laparoscopic equipment (lap spays are more popular than traditional bitch spays), an operating microscope, ultrasound machines - including a new cardiology machine, digital x-ray, endoscopy, rhinoscope, full lab, isolation kennels, separate cat and dog wards and so on. Most importantly, we have the staff who believe in what we do and how we work.

Location
Christchurch, Dorset. 10 minutes from Bournemouth. Edge of the New Forest. On the beach. 2 hours to London.

The Role
The role is for an all round vet to join our team. If you have a particular interest in medicine that would be even better. The role involves a 4-day week, with 1 night on call per week as we are proud to offer our clients our own out of hours service. You will work half a weekend on call in 4 weeks (either Friday night, Saturday day and Sunday night or Saturday day, Saturday night and Sunday day) with time off in lieu. You’ll normally have 2 or 3 consulting sessions per day, no more than 5hrs/day. You will have a set operating day each week.

Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate for our exciting role will be a vet who loves being a vet, who enjoys working to a very high standard in a busy environment with motivated, passionate people, who has experience in general practice and a commitment to providing an exceptional level of care to our patients and service to our clients.
