Night Veterinary Nurse - Derbyshire
The Night Nurses assist the Night Veterinary Surgeon with any medical or surgical procedure that needs to be performed. Under the guidance of the Veterinary Surgeon and in accordance with individual experience, the nurses can perform schedule 3 procedures.
Responsibilities are numerous and varied so a great deal of flexibility and patience is required, in addition to being able to maintain records accurately and administer medications correctly.
All newly hospitalised cases must be passed over to a vet the following morning.
Working 7 nights on followed by 14 nights off, you will be in the same team every time, so you really get the opportunity to bond as a cohesive force.
Night work doesn’t include any of the regular appointments. It’s very dependant on what arrives at the Practice on any given evening, or what cases there are already within the wards requiring care, so this role would suit someone who likes both a varied and reactive environment.
The team currently consists of a Vet, 2 Nurses, 2 Kennel Assistants and one intern. We also have students on rotation from the University of Nottingham. Due to an increased caseload we are adding an additional nurse into each night team to ensure the care remains high.
