- Full Time
We are seeking an experienced clinician for a full-time role. We are a busy and well equipped small animal practice. We have a good throughput of both medical and surgical cases and the successful candidate will be able to work up their cases to a high standard within a friendly, supportive and professional environment.
The practice is based in a large and purpose built premises. We have a team of ten experienced veterinary surgeons supported by eleven qualified and experienced veterinary nurses. In addition, we are supported by a team of nursing auxiliaries, cleaners and excellent receptionists. We aim to practice to a high standard and so we are well equipped with a good range of diagnostic equipment including a range of endoscopes and dental x-ray facilities. We are always happy to invest in equipment that will improve our patient and client care.
We have a small branch surgery a short distance from our main premises but this centre is only open for a couple of hours each day and is only used for routine consultations.
We have a very low turnover of staff with the majority of our staff having been with us for more than ten years. We believe this is because we offer a fulfilling working environment. It also means that we have an experienced and friendly team that are happy to welcome and support new members of staff.
There is ample opportunity to see an interesting and varied case load. The successful applicant will be able to work up their own cases to a high standard with the full support of colleagues available at all times.
All our out of hours cover is outsourced to Vets Now.
In East Anglia, close to London and also to the gorgeous Suffolk and North Essex coast.
As an experienced veterinary surgeon, you will have the freedom to work up your own cases to the best of your abilities. Your role will include a full range of small animal veterinary work including routine surgery and consultations but you will have the freedom to develop more specialised skills with full clinical support. Almost all of your time will be spent in our main premises but you will be expected to carry out very occasional routine consulting sessions at our branch surgery.
We are offering a varied, fulfilling and exciting role that will build your confidence, allow you to develop as a vet and a person and in short allow you to be the vet that you want to be.
It goes without saying that you will be RCVS registered. You will need to be comfortable with routine consultations and surgery and able to cope in a sometimes busy 1st opinion environment.
We are looking for a passionate vet with excellent communication skills and with some experience of small animal practice in the UK. We would like to find somebody who is looking to develop their veterinary skills and increase their knowledge. You will be happy to work and thrive as part of a team and if you are looking to settle in a really pleasant (and relatively rain free) part of England, then all the better (although if you are simply looking for the best next job you can find, then that's ok too).
Our salary will be attractive, favourable and based on your experience. You will work a four-day week with the same day off each week and an additional Friday off every six weeks. You will work one weekend in six with the other five weekends completely free. We give 20 days of holiday each year in addition to bank holidays. We also give four days off each year to pursue CPD. We are happy to fund any relevant CPD and if there is a course that you feel will develop your veterinary career then we will pay for it. If you are looking to move to Colchester then we can provide you with pleasant accommodation until you get yourself sorted.
