We are looking for a vet to join our team of 11 vets.

The Practice
Bicester Vets is an independent, single-site, RCVS accredited veterinary hospital providing our own out-of-hours care with onsite overnight nursing. We have 15-minute consults and practice high level first opinion medicine and surgery. Our vets enjoy case continuity and have clinical freedom.

We have rounds twice daily and share thoughts/experiences and benefit from a number of advanced practitioners and certificate holders (in anaesthesia, cardiology, internal medicine and ophthalmology). We also have visiting specialists (diagnostic imaging and ophthalmology). We also have a high proportion of qualified and highly dedicated veterinary nurses plus multiple animal care assistants.

Location
Bicester, Oxfordshire; a rapidly growing town with good local amenities and excellent travel links (direct, high speed rail links to London, Oxford and Birmingham). Well designed repurposed building in a town centre location in Bicester.

The Role
Role to include consulting, operating, managing hospital patients and out-of-hours work on a rota.  

Normal weeks are 4 days (with the day off changing each week). 

On the week of nights (1:5 or 1:6) the shifts are Mon-Fri 2pm – 9pm.  After 9pm you are on duty from home and the nurse will call if required. 

There is also a full weekend shift and a Saturday shift (1:5 or 1:6).

Enthusiastic team player who is keen to offer gold-standard diagnostic and treatment options to clients with excellent customer service alongside a proactive attitude to preventative healthcare.

The Package

  • Holiday – 6 weeks (24 days) including bank holidays the bank holiday in a week is normally your day off and so doesn’t use up a days holiday

Hospitalisation facilities are provided for the very sick and for those recovering from operations overnight. Our veterinary in-patient facilities are maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and comfort and include separate cat and dog wards, together with isolation and intensive care wards.  If your pet requires an overnight stay then one of our nursing staff will be on-site all night to ensure their safety and well-being.

Surgery is performed on the premises in our modern operating suite using the most up to date anaesthetic drugs and equipment. Anaesthetised patients are closely monitored by our nursing staff throughout their operation and recovery. They have the back up of vital sign monitoring equipment to ensure patient safety during anaesthesia.

X-rays, ultrasound and other diagnostic procedures are performed using the latest equipment and safety precautions so that we can identify the cause of any problems quickly. This enables Bicester Vets to offer the best possible advice to owners with the aim of returning their pets to good health.
