Small Animal/Equine Veterinary Surgeon - Barnsley
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a veterinary surgeon to join our busy independent first opinion practice in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The position is approximately 60% small animal and 40% equine.
The practice is situated rurally with easy access to motorways and the Peak District and boasts an abundance of leisure activities. The practice has been providing a caring, passionate and high quality veterinary service from a long established team of veterinary surgeons and well trained support staff since the 1930’s.
Our main small animal practice is in Barnsley with branch practices in Penistone and Skelmanthorpe. Our equine unit is situated in Hoylandswaine.
The position is approximately 60% small animal and 40% equine.
Our small animal clinic is well equipped with digital radiography, colour Doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, dentistry facilities and in-house laboratory. The equine role is part ambulatory and has clinic facilities for in-patients and out-patients. Our well-equipped equine unit has full surgical facilities with indoor and outdoor lunging areas.
The rota is a 4.5- day working week with a shared 1 in 5 on call and full weekend rota, a long weekend off following the full weekend, and a 1 in 6 Sunday small animal clinic. OOHs is only for equine.
The role would suit an organised and self-motivated team player with two to three years’ experience. An ability to work up equine lameness cases, and an interest in equine dentistry and reproduction would be an advantage. Whilst experience would be an advantage we have always provided a strong level of support and mentoring for new graduates and this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in mixed practice in a helpful environment.
Good salary package dependent on experience with performance related pay review, plus a generous CPD allowance and support for certificate study. 5 weeks annual holiday allowance. Accommodation and car can be provided.
