Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon - Staffordshire
The amalgamation of the large animal business' of Shires Vets & Donnachie & Townley has created an exciting additional vacancy in our 6FTE farm vet (plus 2FTE TB testers) practice covering the whole of Staffordshire.
Shires Vets Farm is based in the picturesque village of Eccleshall. The practice has recently been refurbished to a high standard to provide a separate farm and equine entrance, pharmacy and new clinical building with a separate lab and PM/Ops room just for the farm team
We have fabulous staff plus lay staff who accompany our vets on routine visits and the larger TB tests.
2 dedicated TB testers mean that whilst, yes, all our farm vets do need to TB test the bulk of the tests are undertaken by them.
We require an additional farm vet to support the amalgamation with Donnachie & Townley. OOH is equally shared (currently 1:5 week night and 1:6 weekends) with (very we think) generous time off in lieu.
Our clients are mainly dairy, though there's enough beef & sheep work to provide some colour in a black and white world plus our small holders club gives a real variety from alpacas to chickens and pet pigs.
We ideally require a vet with at least 2 years experience in large animal or mixed practice. A willingness to see horses OOH would be ideal, though we can work round this for the perfect candidate. An interest in herd health is expected and we are happy to support further study to certificate level (or higher).
Usual benefits of CPD, cycle to work scheme, private health cover, work place pension and childcare vouchers are available.
