An exciting opportunity exists in our friendly independent high standard mixed practice on the Somerset levels for a Veterinary Surgeon.

The role is a mix of approximately 60% small animal and 40% farm work (no equine). You will join our team of five full-time and two part-time vets and be supported by a large nursing team and a dedicated reception team. 

Our focus is on preventive health in both herd health and domestic pets. 

The Practice
Spacious, purpose-built facilities including two small animal operating theatres, separate dental and x-ray facilities and designated LA operating theatre.

All mod cons including ultrasound, dental x-ray and video endoscope.

Modern herd analysis software and bull breeding soundness equipment.

Location
We are located in famous Glastonbury, on the Somerset levels within an hour of the cities of Bristol and Bath.

The Role
1-in-6 out of hours rota with full support provided dependent on experience with a half day or sometimes full day off per week, in lieu of OOHs. 

Nurse rota’d in with on call vet. 

Standard 20 minute appointments for small animal medical cases.

Progressive dairy clientele, all within a compact catchment area who value our regular routine visits.

Structured mentoring from an experienced vet team include GP cert(SAM) holder, SA certificate holder (Cert AVP), RCVS specialist in cattle health and production and veterinary surgeon currently doing a Feline medicine ISFM certificate.

Successful Candidate
The role would suit a candidate with one or two years' experience, or more, however a solid, structured mentoring programme is in place for new graduates or for those with less experience. An interest in general practice is essential, with the potential for involvement with anything from herd health and preventive medicine to small animal internal medicine and surgery. The desire to pursue CPD options and postgraduate qualifications are fully supported and funded.
