Summary - Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job - Hospital environment - Staffordshire

Are you looking for a fresh challenge, better work life balance, supported clinical development?

Prospect Health is working with a well-established practice in the Staffordshire area.

Originally the practice was a mixed practice and although they still cover the mixed side they do have their own small animal team and tier 3 hospital.

The Hospital really is state of the art, which has recently been renovated and is their main companion animal centre. Consultations are available throughout the day, along with a full range of medical and surgical facilities, nursing clinics and hospitalization facilities, thus ensuring the animals can be cared for efficiently and appropriately by the team of skilled professionals.

Some of the facilities:

  • Separate dog and cat waiting areas
  • Five consulting rooms
  • Separate wards for dogs, cats and exotic pets and a further separate isolation wards
  • Imaging suite with digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and bronchoscopy
  • Two sterile operating theatres
  • Dental suite with digital dental x-ray
  • Advanced surgical and dental treatments including TTA surgery for cruciate ligament disease and endodontic and orthodontic treatments for dogs and cats
  • In house laboratory to allow rapid analysis of most blood tests
  • Puppy parties to aid socialization, offer a positive experience to visiting the Vets and to provide additional support in the early months

The current team has a vast range of experience levels including certificate holders with interests towards, surgery, medicine, ophthalmology and much more. So it's a fantastic team to work within. They regularly have clinical meetings within the team to help with any complex cases and just generally to discuss different ideas.

The practice and its clinical directors are extremely supportive and encouraging of any interests or specialisms you may have, there is no limit on CPD allowance. If you have an interest in completing a certificate this will also be encouraged and supported.

The team currently consists of 10 Vets, and around 14 Nurses of which 10 are qualified and a very good support team of receptionists, admin staff, kennel assistants and auxiliary nurses.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered with the RCVS, Eligibility to work in the UK
  • 6 month's minimum experience
  • Dedication to high quality patient care and teamwork
