This role is to drive endorsement and recommendation and usage of Purina products by the veterinary nursing community in the UK. Through strong relationship-building, influencing key stakeholders, and working with veterinary nurses in practice, academia and other channels, the veterinary nurse development manager drives awareness of Purina, its nutritional expertise and the support it provides to the veterinary nursing (and vet) profession.

The role:
To develop and drive the Purina Veterinary Nurse Development Programme, as a key business building tool and a key part of demonstrating commitment and support to veterinary practices. Key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to the following:  

  • Driving awareness of Purina and its products through visibility within the veterinary nurse community in the UK
  • Networking and influencing with key opinion leaders within the veterinary nursing profession and relevant stakeholders
  • Take ownership of developing and driving the Purina Veterinary Nurse Development Programme        
  • Working with the Purina Veterinary Nutrition Partner team to drive knowledge and understanding of their customer (veterinary nurses) in practice.                 
  • To develop and maintain a strategy for building Purina business in the veterinary nursing channel         
  • Maximise awareness of Purina nutrition expertise externally through, but not limited to external communications such as writing magazine articles

Successful candidate:
We’re looking for commercially astute candidates for this exciting opportunity with the following skills and experience: 

  • Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with at least 5 years of clinical experience in veterinary practice    
  • Must have experience of customer facing work, ideally consulting nurse work        
  • Previous experience in delivering training or lecturing to veterinary nurses, confidence in delivery of training    
  • Awareness of current political developments in veterinary nursing and ability to understand how these could influence delivery and direction of strategic training requirements        
  • Nutritional Cert(SAN) or willingness to study to complete one – or some kind of proven interest in nutrition    
  • Person should be able to effectively communicate at all levels, from the senior veterinary nurse to business associates. Key attributes:

  • A high degree of emotional intelligence. 
  • Effective team worker, and driven with a particular focus on results.
