Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon - North Devon/Cornwall

We are looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our growing team of progressive vets. Your time will be divided between consulting and operating with the opportunity to deal with hospitalised patients.

The practice:
Penbode Vets is a member of the Vet Partners group. We have passed RCVS Practice Standards (GP level). We have four small animal branches, and are part of a mixed practice. Each discipline works separately with a separate small animal on call rota.

The practice has a long history within the local community, with good client relations. The surgeries are recently built and well equipped (ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy etc). We have exotics, ophthalmology and homoeopathy certificate holders, with others working towards further qualifications. We have a great team of nurses, including 24-hour nursing staff at our OOH surgery.

The role:
Small animal clinician/surgeon. Your time will be divided between consulting and operating. CPD is encouraged and further qualifications supported. A 39-hour week. Consulting time of 15-minute appointments. Surgeries close at 6pm.

On call rota: 

Working 1 weekend in 6

Working 1 night in 7

Working 1 Saturday morning in 4

Time off: 

Not working 1 Fri/Sat/Sun weekend in 4

Not working 1 Sat/Sun weekend in 4 

Successful candidate:
The candidate needs to be able to work as part of a team, to share experience and learn from others. They should be approachable, caring, and able to communicate with clients.

The package:
30 days holiday, 5 days CPD. RCVS fees, BVA membership, and membership of another organisation

Location:
Our branches are on the North Devon and Cornwall border, with surgeries in Holsworthy, Camelford, Stratton and Bradworthy. Easy access to the coast, countryside and moors. Our branches are based in thriving local communities. Life is more relaxed here but there’s always something going on. Housing is great value, schools are good and the people are friendly.
