Consultancy contract with FOUR PAWS UK, 6 months.

The Practice
FOUR PAWS is an international animal welfare organisation with headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and offices in 14 other countries. Founded by Heli Dungler in 1988, the organisation strives to help animals in need with sustainable campaigns and projects. FOUR PAWS focuses on animals that are directly under human influence, for example stray dogs and stray cats, farm animals, companions animals and wild animals kept in inappropriate conditions. FOUR PAWS aims to help animals in need directly and quickly.

The Role
FOUR PAWS International Stray Animal Care program has a requirement for a Clinical Standards Veterinarian to support the work of the Stray Animal Care (SAC) Program in Europe.

This contract is responsible for implementation of FOUR PAWS SAC Quality Standards for affiliated veterinary teams through individual and group instruction as well as development of a Monitoring and Evaluation program for clinical standards. The International SAC Program oversees local veterinary teams in Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine which deliver Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (CNVR) programs throughout the region.

Contract Terms

  • Implementation of the Stray Animal Care Quality Standards for affiliated veterinary teams working on CNVR programs in Eastern Europe
  • Clinical instruction for the purpose of standardizing clinical protocols for CNVR programs delivered by veterinary teams in Europe
  • Development of a long-term Monitoring and Evaluation program for clinical standards across FOUR PAWS Stray Animal Care projects
  • Contribute to development of Quality Standards for humane animal handling and mass vaccination projects
  • Provide local standardized equipment and inventory lists for stationary and mobile veterinary clinics
  • Develop a sustainable International Missions program for veterinary teams

Successful Candidate

  • Veterinary degree with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience
  • Clinical teaching experience
  • Experience in a leadership or management role
  • Experience in CNVR/TNR programs or shelter medicine
  • Clinical audit/quality improvement experience an asset
  • Interest in international work and experience working in Eastern Europe or Balkans an asset
  • Other language skills an asset
  • Up to 12 weeks of travel required to Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine
  • Contract to begin by July 2019
