Theatre Veterinary Nurse - Derby
Our Theatre Team work in a state-of-the-art hospital at our Pride Park location and have access to leading edge specialist knowledge. The team is warm, welcoming and supportive with an anything’s possible approach.
We are a group of skilled and passionate nurses, working within the theatre team at Pride Veterinary Centre. We work closely with specialist referral clinicians from a range of disciplines such as surgery, medicine, ophthalmology and neurology. Day to day, we work especially closely with the anaesthetists, providing anaesthesia and sedation for other services. Despite working within such a big team, we succeed in maintaining a friendly and supportive ethic. We are passionate about providing gold standard of care and as such, all team members receive ongoing support from highly skilled colleagues in both theatre and anaesthesia.
If you are a qualified registered veterinary nurse who is seeking variety in your career then we have the perfect opportunity for you. Supporting the theatre team by delivering and monitoring prescribed anaesthesia/sedation for referral patients from the surgical, neurology, ophthalmology and medicine disciplines, you will be an integral team member. We use multi-parameter monitors to monitor our patients under anaesthesia, reporting any problems to the specialist anaesthetists. Other than anaesthesia we also take on a circulating theatre nurse role. This involves preparing each theatre for surgery with the correct equipment, preparing the patient and personnel for theatre, maintaining sterility during surgery and assisting with theatre equipment. All our theatre nurses are highly skilled due to the in-depth training available.
