About the Role:
We are now seeking a Veterinary Surgeon (VS), the role is responsible for the delivery of an efficient, professional and caring service to PDSA clients, providing a high standard of customer service and clinical care whilst also promoting pet wellbeing and delivering preventive services.
Set in the heart of the Potteries, in the town that brought forth Robbie Williams, world cup goalie Gordon Banks, Lemmy from Motorhead, and Thomas Twyford (inventor of the single piece ceramic toilet), the Stoke PDSA Pet Hospital is a vital part of the community and we like to engage in community events both locally and across the organisation . The staff have a wide range of experience and there is an embedded culture of learning and continuing professional development. We are a nurse training practice. In the next few years we will have a vet school opening on our doorstep in Keele so we look forward to an influx of students!

Stand-down time and additional pay are given when a weekend is worked. A vet is on call for any in-patients overnight and receives an allowance for this – usually this is once every couple of weeks and it is unusual for the vet to be contacted.
The hospital has a varied and interesting case load and an extremely supportive team. Vets typically work 1 in 7 weekends. OOH arrangements – run by VetsNow off site. VS has responsibility for hospitalised in-patients approx. once every 2 weeks.

- Company car or car allowance – £3156
- Life assurance 4 x annual salary
- Contributory pension scheme
- Accommodation allowance - £4217
- Private medical insurance (after 12 months service – permanent employees only)
The successful candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon and responsible for updating their knowledge by attending regular CPD training.
